Our story

Make Thrift Wear is a feminine, playful lifestyle brand that focuses on unique, functional pieces designed for everyday use. The brand is primarily centred around bags and accessories, which have become its strongest and most recognisable category, alongside occasional limited-run clothing pieces. The brand originally started with a focus on thrifted and upcycled elements, and sustainability continues to remain an important part of its foundation. While not every piece is fully upcycled due to growing demand and scalability, the brand still thoughtfully incorporates upcycled and repurposed materials where possible, alongside original handmade and design-led work. This balance allows the brand to stay creatively sustainable while still growing in a consistent and intentional way.At its core, the brand is rooted in creativity, individuality, and thoughtful design, with products that are bold, playful, and naturally stand out while still being practical and wearable.

Meet the Girl Behind The Sewing Machine

From Fabric Scraps to Make Thrift Wear

As a little girl, Kristan spent her school holidays at her auntie’s house, who ran her own sewing business. Surrounded by colourful fabric scraps, sewing machines, and creativity, she would spend hours teaching herself how to make tiny doll clothes from leftover materials and experimenting with different colours, textures, and ideas.

What started as playful creating slowly grew into a real passion for design and making things by hand. Over time, Kristan began sharing her creations online through the Make Thrift Wear Instagram page, where people genuinely connected with and loved the pieces she was making.

Now self-taught, she continues to create playful, expressive lifestyle pieces that blend creativity, functionality, and individuality — all while still carrying the same excitement and imagination that first started around her auntie’s sewing machines.
